Captain Tag

Hello and welcome,

                                                                     Here is a
Captains Tag I created a while ago
and have only now had the chance to post it.
I believe this fellow to be a Captain as in a full
photo of him he is carrying a sword.

I used a few inks, sprays, a stamp and rub on for the background. I also flicked water onto it.
Whats is that you may ask....stitching??????  Yes that's right I have taken my sewing machine out of the!
I inked some seam binding with black, silver and browns for the top of the tag.  Below you will see more seam binding in 5 different colours....these are his ribbons.
You have just got to love his cool!!  I also inked the metal clip with alcohol inks.

This is the back. I used grunge paper to die cut some numbers. I also used the Splatters stencil from Tim Holtz, gotta love the coffee stain. Once upon a time we would have jumped up and down if some-one had placed a coffee stain on our work. Now we love and welcome them. Too Funny.

Just a bit of crafty fun.  I love the fact we can make something look so old from a plain piece of paper. Amazing!! Thanks to all the wonderful Tim Holtz products and some imagination.
One of the most valuable things I have learn't is to just go for it. Its ONLY a piece of paper and if it can't be saved it doesn't really matter. There have been times where I have thought ....that piece looks awful and then I've just added some  stenciling or stamps and bought it back to life. Just have a go, get some ink on your fingers. Make a MESS.

If you find it hard to get you creativity going why not try Creative Chemistry 101 and 102. Tim's Compendium of Curiosities are REALLY great too. Now there are 3 volumes. Here is a link....

Have a great day!

Journal Page Typography No 5

Hello and welcome,

Hope your had an enjoyable weekend.
We are certainly enjoying some cooler weather here.
I thought it was time for another Journal Page. Nothing in particular inspired me for this piece, I just put some products in my hand and went for it.  It has been a while. So here it is.

Randomly coloring the background.

I used a range of stencils here.

Used  featured stamps  here and another with script on it.

This is a surround I had previously die cut. I would normally throw these out but though I had better keep it. Glad I did because I used the top right hand corner flower for the journal page on the right hand side. This was cut using Tim's Tattered Floral's die.

Here it is.

Here I have die cut one of the shapes from Tim's Hardware Findings Die with Grunge board and sprayed it with Lindys Stamp Gang Starburst Dark Chocolate Truffle. (Love love love these sprays).

I love using Embossing much fun. A little goes along way.

I die cut some pen nibs from Tim's Writing Desk die using grunge this stuff. Let it dry .

Cover pen nib with clear embossing ink, pour on clear embossing powder, remove excess and heat emboss it, then dip some black soot distress paint onto the tip. Let it dry. This will go onto the dress form.

Previously  for another project I had Inked some manilla folder, sprayed it with some Ink Refresher, then scrunched it up. Because I had inked it up before spraying refresher, the ink started to disappear. I was also going to throw this away and decided not to. So now for this project I could add some more ink with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and die cut shapes using Tim's Caged Bird die.

On white card stock I stamped some Typewriter Keys in Black Archival Ink. I then inked them with Pumice Stone, Gathered Twigs. Fussy cut them out and finished edges with black soot.

The Dress Form was previously cut from Grunge Board and Inked. The Clock was created using an embossing folder, then inked. The #5 and & symbol  right hand side was die cut from Tim's Word Play die. The Flower was die cut from Tim's Tattered Floral's die.  I used dimensional foam behind the Typewriter Keys, Flower and & Symbol. I also used Frayed Burlap and Gathered Twigs around the page edges.

I am so happy with this piece. I had a great time creating it too.
Any questions or comments please feel free to drop me a line. Always nice to know you stopped by.

Have a fabulous day!!

Happy Birthday to You!!

Hello Crafters,

Today I would like to show you a card I have made for my Grandfathers birthday (I have to say he is my only surviving grand father at 91 and has always been my favourite).  Happy Birthday to you....hope you have a memorable day!!

It basically consists of a brick wall and greasy cogs.  I cut come cogs from a die, then stuck them down on a larger piece of card stock.  I then covered the whole piece with Tim's foil tape and pushed down around the cogs till I was happy with the desired look.  After this I used what ever tools I could get my hands on to make some indentations on the foil.  Placed a name plate and some brads in the middle of the cogs and completed it with Tim's Industrial Technique from Creative Chemistry 102.
Here is a link to Tims blog.......

If you would like to learn some amazing new techniques to apply to your projects then this is a class for you.  You have to complete 101 before you can go onto 102.  There is soooo much information on both won't be disappointed.  I have personally loved every second of it. Whats great about it is you can work at your own pace as it is an online course.

I did forget to take a photo of the inside before I posted it.  I attached a black leather tag with an eyelet and added the birthday wishes with a white marker.  Would love to know what you think. Drop me a line, leave a link so I can visit you too.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hope you like it.

I used Tim's Manilla Tag.  All you do is massage some of the Ink Refresher into Tag. Air Dry. Apply Inks then rub some shiny modge podge over tag if you are after a leather look. Here is a video link from You Tube where I found this technique....Faux Leather Video

Tims 12 Tags of 2014 February

Hello again,

Hope you are all busy crafting. Today I am back to share my February Tag 2014.
Here is the link to pop on over and see the tutorial and all the amazing entries......Tim Holtz

Below is Tim's beautiful tag.

For my background I used Gathered Twigs, Victorian Velvet and Iced Spruce Distress Stains. I didn't have a mask with hearts, so I made one from a manilla folder using a heart punch.
The Stamp used I bought a very long time ago so unfortunately have no record of where I got it or who produced it.

This is the first time I have used Tims Manilla Paper and I can highly recommend it. It takes the inks beautifully like a duck to water.
If you haven't tried Tims Distress Glitter....PLEASE DO ....they are fabulous. Also highly recommend.

So here it is........

I also covered the back of the tag in festive Berries Distress Glitter and placed Tim's Souvenir Album so you can place a personal note.

Thanks for stopping by. Leave me a comment so I know you visited, then I can pop by your blog too.

Have a great day!!
